The Okanagan Artists of Canada Society (OACS) is a non profit society art club whose membership is made up of talented and creative artists from the city of Vernon and surrounding areas. The OACS is one of the oldest art associations in BC and many of its' alumni have become well known Canadian artists.

Artsolutely Community Appreciation Day

Join us Sat, December 16th from noon to 5 for our ARTSOLUTELY Community Appreciation Day! Two people will WIN an Artsolutely Shopping Spree worth up to $150! Enjoy Live Art Demonstrations including Raku Firing, Chainsaw Carving, Wheel Throwing and Live Painting, PLUS musical entertainment, Hot Chocolate Bar, Kids Art Activities. The Wicked Waffles Food Truck will also be on location along with the Winter Carnival Games Igoo and Beach Radio! 

Artsolutely Artisan Market runs daily until December 23rd, with new items arriving daily. Thanks for shopping local and supporting the artists and the VCAC's 18th annual fundraiser!

Artists Unleashed

Artists Unleashed features a diverse array of artworks across all mediums.  We loosed the reins for the first exhibit of 2024, giving artists the freedom to choose their own themes, subject matter and mediums. We're looking forward to seeing what our members create!

The show will run daily from January 6 to 30th, at the Vernon Community Arts Centre.

Papier Mâché Hot Air Balloon Lantern Workshop

Vernon Community Arts Centre 2704a Highway 6, Vernon, BC

Make your own decorative ‘hot air’ balloon with papier mâché and take it with you to the Vernon Winter Carnival Balloon Glow! On the first day of this two-part workshop, you will create the main part of your balloon using the paper strip method. The following week, you will decorate your balloon using tissues, paint, and other techniques to personalize it. Lastly, you will add the basket and the special little touches to personalize your Winter Carnival Balloon. 

Tickets are $90 each and can be purchased through Vernon Winter Carnival. Price includes all tools and materials.

PART 1: Thursday January 25 from 5:30-8:30

PART 2: Thursday, February 1 from 5:30-8:30

You MUST attend both days to complete your project.

Altered Realities, Abstracted Creations

"Altered Realities, Abstracted Creations" invites you to explore the the beauty of ambiguity through abstract and representational art. This exhibit features a range of paintings, sculptures, and prints from Okanagan artists, and runs February 2 to 25 at the Vernon Community Arts Centre.

Hot Air Balloon Lantern Craft, Ages 7-12

Vernon Community Arts Centre 2704a Highway 6, Vernon, BC

Create a fun hot air balloon-inspired lantern to carry with you to the Vernon Winter Carnival Balloon Glow! Using paper, markers, tissue, twine, and paper ball lanterns, kids can create their own uniquely designed balloon lantern. Be inspired by hot air balloons you have seen in previous years or create something new from your imagination.

Workshop to be held at the Vernon Community Arts Centre, February 2, from 3:00-5:00pm.

Tickets $40: Price includes all tools and materials. Purchase tickets through Vernon Winter Carnival.

Artist Trading Card Extravaganza

Create and swap miniature works of art at the Vernon Community Arts Centre. Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) are small pieces of art that are traded around the world, just like hokey or Pokeman cards. Artists create, trade and collect original art at organized “swap” events, in person, or online. The only official rules for ATCs is the size: 2.5″ x 3.5″ and you cannot trade someone else's art. Bring cards to trade, or make them here! All materials will be provided. (Blank artist cards are for sale at the Vernon Arts Centre for those that wish to pre-make cards or just stock up on supplies).

FREE to attend. Please pre-register at Vernon Winter Carnival, as space is limited.

Landscapes, Real & Imagined

Vernon Community Arts Centre 2704a Highway 6, Vernon, BC

Landscapes, whether real or imagined, encourage us to take a moment to explore, and experience new worlds. For this exhibit, local artists were tasked to draw inspiration from the world around them and translate it with their own unique vision and artistic style.

Join us this March and venture into familiar and unfamiliar territory and unique landscapes at the Vernon Community Arts Centre Gallery. Participating artists are all members of the Arts Council of the North Okanagan, the not-for-profit society that runs the VCAC.

Exhibit is open to the public daily, March 1 to April 2, 2024.
Hours:  Monday-Thursday 9-9, Friday-Saturday 9-5, Sunday 12-4

No entry fee. Donations welcomed for those that wish to support Vernon Community Arts programming.
