Laurel Fredin

I have considered myself an artist since childhood, always drawing, painting and doing anything crafty. Naturally I couldn’t fathom not doing something ‘artistic’ for work.

With that in mind I graduated from college with a diploma in Fine Arts, but still wanting more I continued my education and earned an second diploma in Graphic Design and Communications. For almost 20 years I pursued my career as a graphic designer, working in a number of tremendous studios in Vancouver, BC. In the winter of 2008 my family and I moved to Vernon for a change in our ‘life’ and ‘style’. Once settled in the Okanagan, I felt a great need to return to my fine arts roots. Although I consider myself a painter I also dabble in various other mediums like lampwork glass and jewellery making. It is pottery that has always been a home for my soul though, and it’s there I have been blessed to concentrate my efforts once again.
