April 2016 "Off The Wall"
City of Vernon Community Policing in partnership with the Arts Council of the North Okanagan and the Vernon Community Arts Centre are proud to present the culmination of the OFF THE WALL community project, showcasing the talent of youth in Vernon. Made possible through the Civil Forfeiture grant from the Ministry of Justice.
“The City of Vernon’s Off The Wall Community Project is a collaborative endeavour to educate youth that are involved or are at risk of becoming involved in graffiti vandalism,” said Tanya Laing Gahr, communications and grant coordinator with the City of Vernon. “We are pleased that this grant will allow us the ability to engage these youth in a way that provides them with mentorship opportunities and tools to be creative in a way that builds self-respect, self-esteem, confidence and community pride.”
An opening reception for the exhibit will be held at the Vernon Community Arts Centre on April 8 from 5-7pm. The public is invited to attend, enjoy appetizers, and hear from the artists themselves about the program.
