Please bring a cotton or cotton blend t-shirt, tote bag or bandana that you want to the imprint the design on.  We will then guide you step by step through the screen-printing process. As part of BC Culture Days, come enjoy FREE demonstrations on how to create handbound books that can be used for journals, sketchbooks, or zines. Silmara will demonstrate the basics of bookbinding using tools and papers you already have around your home. This is a great introduction to two of her upcoming classes at the Arts Centre that take place in October and November.

Demonstration will be held at the Vernon Community Arts Centre on Monday, September 25, between 6:30pm-8:30pm.

Join us during BC Culture Days for a fun pottery demonstration!

Come down to the Arts Centre and see Sabrina Boulay while she works on a large scale coil pot. Coiling pottery was one of the primary potting methods prior to the development of pottery wheels. Coil pots are sturdy in large forms and have been used for thousands of years across the globe.

Demonstrations will be held at the Vernon Community Arts Centre on Sunday, September 24th between 12:30-1:30pm, and Monday, September 25th, 4:30-5:30pm.  If weather permits, we will be outside on the front lawn of the Arts Centre.

Join us during BC Culture Days and learn about the art of Japanese printmaking.

Adrian, a fan of woodblock printing, will share some of his favourite prints and some history during a 30-minute artist talk. Mainly focusing on works from Japan, he will touch on the well-known Ukiyo (which includes Hokusai and Hiroshige), but dive deeper into the 20th century Shin Hanga, Sosaku Hanga, & Meiji eras.  Adrian will close the talk with a view of some of the woodblock prints from Vienna of the same time.  What he lacks in academic art knowledge is made up in enthusiasm. A fun and fact filled evening, come on down!

Artist talk will be held at the Vernon Community Arts Centre on Wednesday, September 27th between 7:30-8:00pm, with time for questions afterwards.
