Cathy Toll

Cathy brought her artistic talents into the classroom in 2018 and is now an instructor at the Vernon Community Arts Centre, focusing primarily on clay hand-building.  Cathy regularly instructs the Clay and Cabernet nights and is also the VCAC’s full time Studio Technician who manages the clay and glaze studios and ensures that all other studios in the Centre run smoothly.

From her early days making mud pies to later going gloveless in the garden, Cathy has always loved getting her hands dirty.   For the past 5 years she has been deeply immersed in playing with clay, and after taking a clay class here, Cathy fell so in love with pottery and the Vernon Community Arts Centre that she eventually became a member of staff.

Cathy’s pottery combines functionality with art and she thoroughly enjoys adding special little touches to her creations.  With a lifelong affinity to plants and flowers, her work often showcases that same passion. Her pottery is mostly hand-built with the odd thrown piece, and all one-of-a-kind.  What people notice most about Cathy’s work are the exquisite details and messages she engraves into many of her pieces.
