Ready to showcase your tiny talent? The Vernon Community Arts Centre is the proud home of Vernon's first mini art gallery – and it’s absolutely mini-tastic!

Picture this – a small-scale sanctuary for art enthusiasts, where you can exchange your petite pieces for other delightful miniatures. It's an art swap party, but make it mini!

No matter what form your mini masterpiece takes – a sketch, a micro painting, or a petite sculpture – there’s a place for it here. Open the mini gallery door, display your mini marvel, and marvel at the other minute masterpieces on offer.

Everyone is welcome to take a piece, leave a piece, or just have a look around and help our mini art community grow! Open during VCAC hours.

Join VDICSS in creating their community mosaic!

Express yourself by painting a tile that will become part of a vibrant rainbow mosaic. You'll be able to choose one of seven colours - paint anything you like within that colour, and together, we’ll create a beautiful piece of community art. No experience needed - just bring your creativity!

Raise a mug top creativity! The 5th Annual Mugs of May exhibition at the Vernon Community Arts Centre celebrates the craftsmanship, creativity, and personal connections that come with one of life’s simplest pleasures: the humble mug.

This year’s exhibit features a stunning collection of functional mugs—hand built or wheel-thrown—alongside fine art pieces that explore the mug as a central theme. Dive into the heart of the Okanagan's creative spirit at the 20th annual Artsolutely, from November 29th to December 24th. Celebrate local artistry with over 12,500 handcrafted items across a range of mediums, including pottery, glass, fibre arts, and more. As our biggest fundraiser, proceeds support local arts programming and initiatives, directly benefiting arts and culture in our community.

We are proud to present works from the North Okanagan Federation of Canadian Artists (NOFCA).

NOFCA is a community of over 75 artists from the north Okanagan area, that includes emerging artists through to highly proficient professional artists. Each year the NOFCA holds a juried show at the Vernon Community Arts Centre, which features three prize winning paintings, three honorable mentions, and many more extraordinary works from their talented group of local artists. The quality of works and diversity of art is always a treat for the eyes.

In Queer Hands is a multi-media art exhibition taking place at the Vernon Community Arts Centre October 11th - November 5th

This exhibition is in observation of QUEER HISTORY MONTH which is the month of October!

This exhibition is meant to amplify queer voices and stories through artistic expression! Art must be made by a 2SLGBTQIA+ identifying individual. All mediums and sizes of projects are accepted, and projects aren't required to have a queer narrative.

VCAC is pleased to present “Encouraging Ability in the Arts”, an annual exhibit featuring works from the Joining Hands Program.

Joining Hands is an art-based program providing adults with diverse abilities an encouraging environment to explore their artistic skills. We focus on the development of individual ability and confidence in the arts, helping to foster a sense of belonging in an inclusive community. Our program consists of over 50 participants, and 20+ support workers from more than 10 program affiliates. In nearly 20 years, we’ve worked with more than 300 diversely abled artists!

Join the Vernon Community Arts Centre in celebrating Culture Days from September 20 to October 13. There are events and activities to suit every age and interest, and all events are FREE or pay as you may.

Culture Days is a national celebration of arts and culture. At the end of each September, millions of people attend thousands of free participatory arts and culture events across the country both in-person and online. Culture Days programs invite the public to get hands-on and behind-the-scenes to highlight the importance of arts and culture in our communities.

The Vernon Community Arts Centre is excited to present our Annual "Youth Exhibit - Fresh Perspectives 2024." This exhibit features original artwork by artists ages 5 to 25. Explore a wide variety of art styles, each showing the unique view of its creator. From young beginners to emerging talents, each artist freely picks their subject and artistic medium.

Fresh Perspectives will run daily from August 22 to September 11 and will coincide with our 2024 Youth Artist in Residence Exhibit.

This exhibit showcased the incredible talents of Magnus Emrys Peacock, Jacqueline Janek, and Mayah FM, VCAC's 2024 Youth Artists in Residence in their joint exhibition "Summer Explorations."

Dive into their artistic journeys and creative endeavors.

As an Indigenous artist based in the Okanagan, experience the rich and meaningful world Emrys creates through their art. Being a Two-Spirit Indigenous person has opened their mind to different styles of art and meeting more diverse artists.

Explore Mayah's thought-provoking and beautiful pieces, created with oils, acrylics, and pen and ink. Mayah skillfully uses her talents to address both the overlooked aspects of everyday life and significant global events.

Art has been a constant in Jaqueline's life, with a particular focus on oil paintings of Canadian bird species. Jacqueline finds peace and inspiration in birds, capturing their essence in her work to evoke wonder in viewers.

The Vernon Community Arts Centre is proud to welcome back The Canadian Mental Health Association for the 21st Annual Awakening the Spirit Art Show & Sale, celebrating the creative talents of people living with mental illness.

Art has a therapeutic quality that has proven to benefit the mental health of individuals. Artwork on display is from those living with mental illness who have used art to improve their mental health positively. We hope to break down some of the barriers and stigma surrounding mental health and mental illness through art and creativity.

“People get this idea it is really easy [to make art] when you have a mental illness, but it’s not,” she says. “It’s harder because you have to deal with the struggles you are going through, as well as trying to do a piece.” ~Bernadette Kroft.

Awakening the Spirit runs from July 25th to August 20th and is open daily to the public.

Admission is free. Donations are accepted to contribute to future community programming.

Artistry Unleashed was all about throwing away the boundaries and starting the new year with a fresh gallery of works from our members. Subject matter and medium was the artists choice, so they had fun with it! As our first exhibition of 2024 it was our biggest yet. With so many submissions we actually had to create a second gallery space.
