Family Day Art Classes

Connect with family through Art! Join us at the Arts Centre to explore glass arts, fibre and textiles, Japanese arts and more. Creating art and connecting with family is always a fun way to make memories, and to preserve them for years to come.
CLAY HANDBUILDING Ages 5+
February 20 (Monday) 1:30-4:30
Enjoy Family Day afternoon together making a fun clay handbuilding project. Youth must attend with an adult. All firing and glazing are done for you so no previous experience necessary. Price includes all materials.
JAPANESE ARTS Ages 5+
February 20 (Monday) 1:00-3:00
Make family inspired art together using Japanese kanji and a variety of art mediums. Youth under 10-years-old must attend with an adult. Price includes all materials.
FAMILY DAY FIBRE ART Ages 6+
February 20 (Monday) 1:00-3:00
Come with family members to create a unique piece of art with a variety of fabrics and fibres. Step by step instructions to guide your through creating your own masterpieces. Youth under 10-years-old must attend with an adult. Price includes all materials except a frame which you can add at home.
FAMILY DAY FUSED GLASS TILES – Ages 6+
February 20 (Monday) 10:00-12:00
A great class for all ages, from 6 to 106 and beyond! In this 2 hour, informative and fun course students will make a set of beautiful tiles. All materials are included. Please wear closed toed shoes. Projects will be fired and ready for pick up a few days after class. Youth under 10-years-old must attend with an adult. Price includes use of tools and all materials.
COLLAGE FAMILY PORTRAITS
February 20 (Monday) 9:30-12:00
In this family workshop, we’ll explore observation, composition, and collage illustration techniques. Kids and adults will engage in a creative process to construct portrait collages -either a self-portrait or a portrait of a family member – using paper, scissors, and glue. Each child should be accompanied by an adult guardian, but they can work independently or cooperatively on their projects. Please bring family photos to work from (head & shoulders). Price includes all other materials.
ARTIST TRADING CARD EXTRAVAGANZA – All ages
February 20 (Monday) Drop-in any time between 9:30-12:30
Drop in and enjoy time with family to play and make art. The Vernon Community Arts Centre is pleased to bring back another Artist Trading Card Extravaganza for Family Day. An array of colorful mixed media art materials will be provided for you to create unique mini artworks. Keep your creation or trade it! Trade with others who are present or leave your artwork on the trading wall for someone to pick up for a trade on another day. No experience necessary. You are welcome to work independently or with the guidance of an instructor. Learn More
