Level: Beginner
Instructor: Svetlana Shkuratova
Over five weeks, explore the versatile and expressive world of modern printmaking using easily accessible natural or recycled materials and non-toxic ink to create striking images. We’ll cover the following techniques: collagraph which involves creating a collage of textured materials glued to a printing plate or incising designs in it and printing from it; foilography where wrapping delicate natural materials in aluminum foil allows pulling multiple prints from them. Finally, we’ll make prints using Tetra Pak cartons after incising designs into them. This class will give you a solid printmaking skill base and will allow you to be a confident user of a printing press qualifying you to use our printmaking studio on a drop-in basis.
Bring an apron / old shirt, a sketchbook, materials to create texture (embossed textured paper, cupcake liners, thread, dry flattened leaves, feathers, etc) and a roll of parchment paper.
All other materials are provided.
