This class in intended for VCAC members who have completed a 6- or 8-week pottery class and want to level up their pottery by adding decorative carving & texture.  Learn how to alter your leather hard pottery by carving designs and texture which will enhanced by applying glazes and oxides once bisque fired. Explore using the Sgraffito technique: a decorating technique produced by applying layers of underglazes or colored slips and then scratching off parts of the layers to create contrasting images, patterns, and texture to reveal the clay underneath.  Members will use studio booking time to glaze their work.

Students should bring 2 to 4 leather hard pieces made with VCAC purchased clay. You are welcome to bring your own clay tools, paint brushes, and underglazes but tools will also be provided for use in the class. All participants must be 17 year or older.
