I have been interested in Native Art since the late 1960's. I started out with traditional native beadwork, following designs from books, art shows or museums, and then sitting down and figuring out how it was done. I first became interested in pursuing basketry as an art form in about 1998, trying my hand at traditional woven baskets, including those using cedar bark. I found that pine baskets, using the coiled basket technique, were more suited to my design ideas and so continued with those. It seems to come very naturally to me, but I also studied many books to figure out "how they do that". My baskets have been sold largely through word of mouth and through galleries in Alberta. They have been shipped to customers in Atlanta, Georgia; and as far away as Holland.
