Through demonstration and one on one instruction, explore clay techniques as you build various forms. Students will be introduced to new hand-building techniques in each class and be challenged to get more creative with their projects.



Playing with styles such as cubism, surrealism, and abstraction we will look not too far into the past for inspiration for making our own works of art.

Monday & Tuesday, July 3 & 4 9:30am – 3:30pm || In these hand building classes we will do a variety of projects using different skill building techniques to make our very own sculptures. Lunch is supervised; participants need to bring a lunch, drinks, snacks and wear art appropriate clothing.

Projects include painting, drawing, sculpture, fibre art, printmaking, collage and mixed media. The class will hold an art exhibit for family and friends the last day of camp. Lunch is supervised; participants need to bring a lunch, drinks, snacks and wear art appropriate clothing.



These individual lessons are an introduction to reading music, learning about melody, rhythm, the beat, and to play by ear. Students will have fun and quickly learn how to play the electric keyboard using both hands with accompanying rhythm and chords. Beginners and those who have taken music lessons before are welcome. Family and friends are invited to attend the student recital at the conclusion of the class. Students can choose either 30 minute or 1 hour long lessons. Sheet music is included in the class cost.

Wednesday, July 5 1:00pm – 3:00pm || Come outside for the afternoon and try sketching in the wild! During this three hour class we will work on drawing the world outside our doors.

Pop, rock, country or blues, easy step by step instruction will have you playing your favorite songs in no time. Learn to read music and strum chords during these ½ hour long private lessons. Students are to bring their own guitar.

Wednesday, July 19 1:00pm – 3:00pm || Learn the basics of silk screening by creating your very own custom t-shirt design.



Wednesdays, July 19 – August 16 (no class August 6), 1:00pm – 4:00pm || Learn how to throw on the wheel and practice the decorating and glazing techniques that go into creating finished pieces. During this class students will learn the basics and explore functional forms while making several mugs and bowls. Please leave rings, watches and bracelets at home. Hair should be tied back. Students should bring an apron and wear clothing and footwear appropriate for a clay class. The materials fee is for 1 bag of M340 clay. Additional clay is available for purchase at the VCAC front desk.
