The clay studio is equipped with 10 potters wheels & throwing bats, 4 hand-building tables, an extruder, a slab roller, 2 electric kilns firing to cone 6, a set of studio glazes, clay traps on the sinks, a spray booth, and more. We are currently designing a better recycling program to reduce clay and glaze waste and lessen our environmental footprint. For studio drop-in hours, please click here.

This area suits a variety of uses, including regular activity from clay studio users who are members of the Arts Council of the North Okanagan. We have 3 kilns – a bisque kiln, glaze kiln firing to cone 6, and a new glass fusing kiln. We also have a spray booth, and a set of studio glazes.

The newly renovated glass studio has lots of counter and table space and is equipped with eight glass grinders, eight sets of glass hand tools, a ring saw for cutting those difficult glass shapes and more.  We have a large glass kiln and plenty of books and patterns for reference and inspiration.  Stained glass, fused glass and glass beadmaking classes are held in this studio. The glass studio is open to members for drop in whenever a class isn’t in session.  Please phone 250-542-6243 for available times. Drop in is uninstructed so we require you to have taken a class with us at the Arts Centre or completed an orientation before using the studio.

The 2D studio is where most of our drop-in sessions and classes for drawing and painting happen. We recently improved this studio by replacing the existing lights with a new set of full-spectrum lighting. The studio also features adjustable spot-lighting for use with still-life and live models. Other amenities include easels, a model stand and sky lights.

The Printmaking Studio is the newest addition to the Centre and contains two presses. The room is located upstairs and lets in lots of beautiful, natural light. Completion of any of our printmaking classes gives you access to the studio and presses during drop-in sessions. If you have previous printmaking experience and would like to use the studio, contact us to set up an orientation.

The PA Studio is a large open room with new flooring and lots of natural light. In the past it was heavily used by dance groups and for drama lessons as it is an ideal space for freedom of movement and expression – hence PA for “Performing Arts”. While the name remains, this space is now home to our Joining Hands program as well as many painting and drawing classes.

Located upstairs, our youth studio is a brightly-coloured space designed to help spark creativity in the young artists of tomorrow. Once upon a time the walls were covered in blue and pink bubbles (hence the name) but they have since been replaced by art from our youth classes and inspiring art content.
